For a contained price, the H86 screen transforms the rear-passenger experience: simple install, quality display, car controls and CarPlay/Android Auto. The dated interface and limited store are acceptable trade-offs.
Looking to keep your rear passengers entertained on long trips? The H86 Android entertainment screen from Hansshow for the Tesla Model 3 is a simple, effective solution. We installed and tested it — here's our full take, strengths and limits alike.
A truly plug-and-play install
Out of the box, the build quality is reassuring: the screen is well finished and blends naturally into the Tesla's minimalist design.
Installation is surprisingly simple, with no screwdriver or electronics know-how needed:
- connect the supplied cables;
- it works immediately;
- the screen slots perfectly between the front seats.
The result: an integration so clean you'd think it was one of the latest 2024 Tesla models. One caveat — how easy the fit is can vary with your car's year.
An 8.66-inch HD screen
The 8.66-inch display offers a convincing HD resolution, with vivid colors and sharp contrast. YouTube, Netflix, games: the video experience is pleasant and makes trips noticeably calmer for everyone.
One small letdown, though: the user interface feels a bit dated. You get used to it, but it doesn't match the hardware's finish.
A real extension of the car
Beyond entertainment, this Android screen lets rear passengers control several car functions:
- adjust the climate control;
- turn on the heated seats;
- all without bothering the driver.
On the connectivity side, CarPlay and Android Auto support is a major plus: passengers stream their own content or access their apps straight from their phone.
The limits to know before you buy
Let's be transparent: the Android store doesn't offer every app. Some, like Disney+, aren't compatible with the device. Worth checking against your family's habits before you commit.
Our verdict
For a contained price, the H86 screen transforms the rear-passenger experience: simple install, quality display, car controls and CarPlay/Android Auto make it a great investment for families who travel. The dated interface and limited store are acceptable trade-offs for the comfort gained.
