Owners of older Model S and Model X have waited the longest. On October 14, 2026, Tesla’s AI account on X announced that FSD v14 Lite is rolling out to Intel-powered HW3 Model S and Model X, the first time these cars receive the distilled FSD branch, as Not a Tesla App reports. It arrives as FSD (Supervised) v14.3 Lite with software update 2026.38.5.1; owner Leonard Campagna already had it on his family’s two Model X, including a 2017 car.

What v14.3 Lite brings

According to the 2026.38.5.1 release notes, Tesla “distilled the intelligence from HW4 V14 into HW3,” bringing reinforcement-learning improvements to the older, memory-limited computer. The notes list better handling of navigation, merges and forks, pedestrians, traffic lights and cut-ins, plus fewer false slowdowns, smoother steering and more consistent lane centering.

On Intel Model S and X, the build includes Speed Profiles and the FSD streak counter, which shows how far you’ve driven without an intervention.

What’s missing on Intel S and X

First installs show the S/X package is narrower than the one HW3 Model 3 and Model Y got earlier this month. Tesla News Wire sums up the owner reports: for now, legacy S and X do not get:

  • Arrival Options (choosing to park in a lot, on the street or in a driveway)
  • starting FSD from Park
  • reversing on FSD
  • Actually Smart Summon

Software tracker Teslascope reported matching first impressions: a “vast improvement over V12” and better speed control, but no parking options and no reversing so far. Tesla has not explained the gap. Not a Tesla App suggests later point releases could add the parking features, since they already run on Intel-based HW3 Model 3 — a reasonable guess, not a Tesla promise.

Other limits of 2026.38.5.1

The same update carries Halloween Mode, FSD v14.3.12 and Automatic Collision Evasion, but none of that reaches these cars: Halloween Mode doesn’t run on Intel computers, and v14.3.12 and Collision Evasion are HW4-only. For HW3 S/X with the newer AMD screen computer, reports conflict; Not a Tesla App says those began getting v14 Lite in September.

End of the road for HW3

v14 Lite is expected to be the last major FSD branch for HW3. Tesla has said HW3 won’t support unsupervised FSD or the coming v15, and has promised hardware upgrades for owners who bought FSD — still without a date.

Rocks take

If you own a pre-refresh Model S or X with HW3, install 2026.38.5.1: the jump from v12 is real. Just keep parking, reversing and summoning yourself for now, and remember FSD (Supervised) still requires an attentive driver ready to take over.
