Apple’s HomePod mini 2 is available to pre-order today for $149 (€169 in France), with availability starting Friday, October 30, per Apple Newsroom.
Key points
- Five colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight.
- Apple S10 chip and computational audio for 360-degree sound.
- First-ever four-speaker surround: four HomePod mini 2 with the Apple TV 4K (4th generation), with automatic position tuning.
- Can act as the default speaker for Macs with Wi-Fi 6E or later.
- Sound Recognition alerts for smoke and CO alarms.
Siri AI timing
Siri AI will come to HomePod mini 2 “via a future software update,” in English, in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. EU buyers won’t get it for now, the same reason HomeView isn’t sold in the EU.
Smart home angle
HomePod mini 2 works as an Apple Home hub and with Apple Home Collection doorbells and cameras. Apple doesn’t describe any Home Assistant integration; it would most likely behave as an AirPlay speaker there until the community confirms more. Apple’s new display is covered in our HomeView story.
