Home Assistant Core 2026.10.1 shipped on October 10, 2026. It’s a patch release. Summary based on esp32.co.uk and GitHub issue #185752.
What’s fixed
- WLED: Home Assistant now reloads color modes when the LED setup changes (LED type, outputs, “CCT from RGB”), no manual reload needed.
- Wired WLED: no more useless Wi-Fi sensors (RSSI, channel, BSSID) on Ethernet controllers. Sensors already registered stay.
- Matter thermostats: calibration limits now follow the Thermostat cluster revision (±2.5 °C up to rev 6, ±12.7 °C from rev 7).
- Also: ZHA 2.3.1 and a generic thermostat timing fix.
The Matter Server issue
On October 11, a Home Assistant OS user opened issue #185752: after updating, the log shows “Failed to start the Matter Server app: Timeout connecting to Supervisor” on every reboot. Their workaround: manually restart Matter Server after rebooting.
Caveat: the triage reply on the issue says nothing changed on Core’s side for this between 2026.10.0 and 2026.10.1. The message appears while the Matter Server app isn’t ready yet, and Core keeps retrying. The root cause (Supervisor, OS or the app) is still unknown, logs were requested, and the issue is open.
Should you update?
- Yes if you use WLED or Matter thermostats.
- Before: take a full backup stored off the machine.
- After: reboot and check the Matter Server app state. If it’s stuck, restart it manually and add your logs to the issue.
