WhatsApp is finally letting Android beta users queue a message for later. On October 12, 2026, WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.40.7 is rolling scheduled messages to some testers — for individual chats and groups.
How scheduling works
- Compose a message, then tap and hold the send button to pick a delivery time
- Supports text, links, photos and videos (one media item per scheduled send) with end-to-end encryption
- Earliest slot: 10 minutes from now; latest: up to two weeks ahead
- Manage or delete pending items from a dedicated section in chat info — recipients are not notified if you cancel
- Delivery happens from WhatsApp’s servers even if the phone is offline or the app is closed
Groups nuance
Scheduled group messages go only to members who were in the group when you scheduled them. People who join later do not receive that queued message.
Rollout status
The feature is gradual: installing 2.26.40.7 does not guarantee the UI appears immediately. Recipients can still receive a scheduled message even if they cannot schedule one themselves yet.
WABetaInfo has tracked the feature for months: the UI appears from a long-press on send and also from the drawing editor when scheduling a photo. Recipients can receive a scheduled message even if they cannot schedule yet. The company is rolling it out gradually over the coming weeks.
Rocks take
iOS users have wanted parity for ages. If the beta sticks, birthday texts and midnight campaign drops get a lot less stressful — without keeping your phone awake.
