Tesla Model Y L: first US deliveries get underway

The Model Y L — Tesla's long-wheelbase version of its electric SUV — has officially begun US deliveries. First units were confirmed in mid-September 2026, roughly 10 weeks after the July 2 US announcement.

Built for families

The Model Y L stands out with its stretched wheelbase and up to six seats. It fills the gap between the standard Model 3/Model Y and the brand's larger legacy models.

A year of refinement in China

Production was already battle-tested: the Chinese variant launched as early as August 2025, giving Tesla more than a year to refine manufacturing before bringing the model to North America. A notably smooth timeline for a new configuration.
