Bigger glass, more dual-motor punch, same stickers. On October 1, 2026, Electrek reported Tesla North America’s update: every Model 3 sold in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico now ships with a 16-inch center touchscreen, replacing the 15.4-inch unit a day after China received the same display size.

What changed on the configurator

  • 16-inch first-row touchscreen across the lineup, including the base Model 3 RWD at $36,990
  • Model 3 Performance: black headliner; EPA-estimated range 316 miles (up from 309); peak power listed at 528 hp (up from 510 when the Highland Performance launched in 2024); 0–60 mph still 2.9 seconds; price $54,990
  • Premium AWD: 0–60 now 3.8 seconds (down from 4.2); 346 miles of range; price $47,490
  • Premium RWD remains $42,490—Electrek says base prices did not move

Tesla did not detail the hardware or software path behind the extra power and range, nor whether already-delivered cars get any of it. The larger screen is a hardware change that cannot be retrofitted.

What did not change

Vehicle-to-load for Model 3 is still a China story. Electrek notes US V2L remains limited to certain Model Y and Cybertruck configurations after August’s expansion, and the Model 3 comparison tool still lists no external power feature. The light-gray China interior was not in the US configurator. Canada was not named in Tesla’s post; contemporaneous checks still showed a 15.4-inch Canadian listing even though Canada sources Shanghai-built cars.

Rocks take

Distinct from the earlier China Model 3 V2L/16-inch pack: this is the NA market update with Performance 528 hp and Premium AWD 3.8 s numbers. Also separate from Q3 delivery figures and Supercharger stall counts. Source: Electrek Oct 1 citing @tesla_na.
