China Model 3 buyers get the bigger screen first. On September 30–October 1, 2026, Electrek and Paul Tan reported Tesla China’s refresh for every Model 3 trim on sale there.
Hardware and cabin
- Display: 16-inch center touchscreen (was 15.4); Tesla cites higher resolution and refresh rate without publishing exact figures
- Interior: new light-grey premium option paired with a black fabric headliner (replacing the prior white-interior / light headliner combo)
- Wheels: darker finish on 19-inch alloys vs prior silver (Paul Tan)
Vehicle-to-load
Every Model 3 and Model Y currently on sale in China can export up to 2.2 kW AC (220 V / 10 A). Owners need Tesla’s AC power-export adapter (~CNY 599 per Paul Tan) except the three-row Model Y L, which does not need the adapter. Tesla’s camping example stacks a 600 W rice cooker, 1 kW hot pot, and 600 W kettle.
US gap
US Model 3 still lists a 15.4-inch screen. August’s US V2L launch covered Model Y Premium/Performance and Cybertruck at 2.4 kW—not the Model 3. List prices in China did not move (base RWD still CNY 235,500); Oct 31 orders get stacked incentives including CNY 5,000 off final payment.
Incentives stacked on top
Electrek notes Model 3 orders placed by October 31 get CNY 5,000 (~$740) off final payment, plus 5-year 0% financing examples, CNY 8,000 insurance subsidy on several trims, CNY 8,000 paint credit, and charging perks. After stacking, Tesla advertises the Model 3 from about CNY 222,500 (~$33,000)—but the list RWD price remains CNY 235,500. Competition context in Electrek’s piece: BYD’s Formula S starts near CNY 189,900 for a RWD sedan.
What did not change
Paul Tan emphasizes mechanical specs and catalogue prices are unchanged across RWD, Long Range RWD, Long Range AWD, and Performance. The story is cabin/display/V2L parity with recent Model Y China moves—not a new battery pack or motor.
For export markets that source from Giga Shanghai, Paul Tan notes prior Model Y China cabin upgrades reached Malaysia within about ten days—useful context, not a promise that this exact Model 3 screen/V2L pack will mirror that cadence.

FAQ
Will US Model 3 get the 16-inch screen? Not announced with this China update.
Is V2L bidirectional home backup? This is vehicle-to-load AC export via adapter, not a whole-home Powerwall substitute.
