Tesla rolls out Automatic Collision Evasion with the FSD v14.3.9 update

Tesla has started rolling out software update 2026.27.6, which ships a major safety addition: Automatic Collision Evasion. The feature uses the Full Self-Driving stack to trigger an emergency maneuver, even when the driver is in full manual control.

Two FSD branches rolling out in parallel

The update arrives alongside two versions of the driving software: FSD v14.3.9 for Hardware 4 (HW4) vehicles, and FSD v14.2 Lite for older Hardware 3 (HW3) cars. According to Tesla Oracle, v14.2 Lite entered wide release on September 15, 2026, with release notes identical to the previous version plus refinements in behavior and performance.

Safety that is always on

Automatic Collision Evasion marks a shift in philosophy: the autonomous-driving stack no longer intervenes only when FSD is engaged — it can assist the driver at all times. Early owner reports describe a feature designed to avoid or soften an impact when the driver doesn't have time to react.
