Audiobooks on Spotify are leaving the early-adopter club. On October 7, 2026, at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Spotify announced it will grow audiobook access from 22 markets to more than 180 by the end of 2026 — more than 750 million potential listeners and over 350,000 titles.
Rollout calendar
- October 7: Colombia, Italy, Mexico, Spain
- October 15: Argentina, Brazil, Norway, Poland
- November 12: Portugal
- Remaining markets in batches through year-end (Publishers Weekly)
How you listen
- Audiobooks in Premium: eligible subscribers get 12 hours a month in many markets (Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico and others)
- Audiobooks+: paid add-on for extra hours; primary path in much of Africa, Asia and Argentina; already 1M+ subscribers and more than $100 million ARR
- Buy a title: keep it forever, everywhere
Local catalogs include 45,000+ Spanish, 20,000+ Polish, 14,000+ Italian and 6,000+ Portuguese titles. Partnerships stay non-exclusive.
Page Match and students
Page Match — jump between print, ebook and audio — has been used by more than 1 million readers since February and now supports page numbers via an ISBN scan, in 30+ languages. Audiobooks+ reaches Student plans in Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Finland in November.
Rocks take
Spotify turning into a global books platform matters if you already live in the app for podcasts. Hours and pricing still vary by country — check your market before assuming Premium includes audiobooks.
