From mid-September 2026, Spotify is rolling out a new "AI Persona" badge on some artist profiles. The goal: tell listeners when an artist's public identity may be AI-generated rather than representing a real person.
Less visibility for AI profiles
Beyond the label, Spotify excludes those profiles from most personalized recommendations by default. The platform says the change is part of a broader push for transparency around AI, as generative tools make it easier to create music and artist identities without a conventional human artist behind them.
An answer to the AI-music wave
The move joins a wider effort to regulate AI-generated music. By curbing algorithmic promotion of artificial "personas," Spotify aims to protect discovery of real artists while keeping AI as a clearly-flagged creative tool.
