Schneider Electric launches a €1.2 billion bid for smart-home maker Shelly

French industrial giant Schneider Electric said Thursday it intends to launch a voluntary public takeover offer for Bulgarian smart-home device maker Shelly Group at €70 per share, reports Reuters.

A valuation of about €1.2 billion

The all-cash offer values Shelly at about €1.2 billion ($1.4 billion). Schneider said the deal is expected to close by the first quarter of 2027.

A comfortable premium for shareholders

The offer price represents a 27% premium to Shelly's unaffected reference price as of July 28, and sits 22% above its current price. On the news, Shelly shares — listed in Sofia and Frankfurt — rose 4.3%, while Schneider slipped 0.5%.

Shelly is known for its affordable connected modules and switches, widely used in European smart homes and compatible with the main home-automation ecosystems.
