At its Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, Qualcomm officially introduced two new premium processors: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

Two chips built on 2nm

Both SoCs are built on a 2nm process, like Apple's A20 Pro, and feature a custom Oryon CPU, a rearchitected Adreno GPU, and a Hexagon NPU optimized for agentic AI. Qualcomm claims over 10% performance gains versus the previous generation.

The Extreme, first mobile chip at 5 GHz

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the first mobile CPU to hit 5 GHz, while the standard version leans toward power efficiency.

Which phones?

These chips will power upcoming Android flagships from Honor, Xiaomi, Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo and others. Xiaomi has confirmed it will use them on its upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.
