GPT-6 in ChatGPT: Intelligent UI Arrives, Free Users From Oct 8

ChatGPT is no longer just a wall of text. On October 7, 2026, OpenAI began rolling out a new GPT-6 model in ChatGPT, together with a capability it calls Intelligent UI. OpenAI says the release is aimed at the more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT every week.

What Intelligent UI does

GPT-6 has been trained to compose answers from text, visuals and interactive components, and to decide which format fits the question. Responses can include:

• Graphics and interactive diagrams, for example to explain how a bicycle drivetrain works
• Tappable buttons, forms and charts
• Small tools built on the spot: a savings calculator, a bill splitter, or a game you play inside the chat
• Plans with maps or timelines, such as a road trip or a Sunday roast that scales with the number of guests

Under the hood, OpenAI built a library of native, streamable components and a compiler, so the interface appears progressively while the model is still generating. When plain text is the most useful answer, ChatGPT is meant to give you that. According to TechCrunch, users will be able to dial the amount of visuals back.

Faster answers

GPT-6 can also start answering while it keeps thinking. OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant begins answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant on questions that need web search. That figure, like the quality comparisons, comes from OpenAI’s internal evaluations.
