Minut A1: Self-Testing Smoke & CO Alarm for Short-Term Rentals

Minut A1: Self-Testing Smoke & CO Alarm for Short-Term Rentals

A smoke alarm designed for homes where nobody lives full time. On October 7, 2026, Minut introduced A1, its first smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, built specifically for short-term rentals.

The problem it solves

Guests change every few days and properties sit empty between stays. A detector removed after burnt toast, or a battery pulled to stop a chirp, can go unnoticed for weeks, leaving the next guests unprotected.

What A1 does

  • Automatic self-testing between bookings: sync your PMS or OTA and A1 sees reservations, or add them manually
  • Tamper alerts in real time if the alarm is removed or its battery pulled
  • Real-time alerts for low battery, lost connection, smoke or CO, with a local siren for guests
  • A compliance log of each alarm’s status you can share with insurers or regulators
  • Meets UL 217 and UL 2034
  • Interconnect up to 10 alarms; also tracks temperature and humidity

Plan and availability

A1 works standalone and can be added to an existing Minut plan without changing the subscription price. It is currently on sale in the US; Minut did not publish a price in its announcement.

Rocks take

For hosts, the compliance log is the killer feature. For Home Assistant fans, the open question is integration: Minut’s announcement only mentions its own app.

FAQ

Do I need another Minut device? No, A1 can run on its own.
