Meta unveils Muse Charm, a keychain AI gadget for its Muse assistant (OLED, 5G, fingerprint)

Meta is pushing its AI hardware beyond glasses. At the Meta Connect keynote (Wednesday, September 23), Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Muse Charm, a small device built around Muse, the company's AI assistant, report The Verge and Ars Technica.

A screen, 5G and a fingerprint sensor

About the size of an AirPods case — it fits on a keychain — the Muse Charm packs a roughly 2-inch OLED touchscreen, a built-in 5G modem (so it works without Wi-Fi or a phone) and a fingerprint sensor used to start talking to Muse.

Born from Meta's design lab

The product came out of Meta's new design lab, led by Alan Dye, the former Apple design chief, and its Superintelligence AI group. "We pack the whole Muse experience, including the whole real-time voice and avatar stack, into something that fits on a keychain and is always available to talk to," Zuckerberg said.

December shipping, price unknown

Meta aims to ship by the holidays in December, but announced no price. Muse Charm joins Meta's hardware lineup as the company hunts for a successor to the smartphone, alongside its Ray-Ban glasses and VR headsets.
