LG unveils Homi Portal, its multi-brand smart home hub

At IFA 2026, LG's smart-home subsidiary AtHome (80% LG-owned since 2024) unveiled Homi Portal, a smart-home controller due for release later this year.
Unprecedented cross-brand openness
Homi Portal handles lighting, heating and appliances, claiming support for more than 70,000 devices from over 2,000 brands. Better still, it can control Samsung products via the SmartThings app and enable cross-brand automations — for example blinking one brand's lights when another brand's washing machine finishes its cycle.
The bigger trend: openness
Samsung is opening up too: since April, IKEA smart-home products connect directly to SmartThings with no dedicated hub. The smart-home race is now fought on interoperability.
