India’s next gaming-leaning flagship now has a public green light. At the Snapdragon stage during Indian Mobile Congress 2026, iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya confirmed the iQOO 16 is coming to India — and that it will ride Qualcomm’s top-bin Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. 91mobiles and India Today reported the confirmation on October 9–10.

What iQOO said on stage

  • India launch confirmed; exact date and India price not shared
  • Chip: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (among the first Extreme Gen 6 phones in India, alongside names such as Motorola Signature 27 and Xiaomi 18 Pro)
  • Marya highlighted an M16 display with a 2K panel and 165Hz refresh, plus OriginOS 7
  • “Very surprising, very unique” AI features teased without detail

China-line hardware (expected, not India sheet)

India Today’s expected-spec rundown mirrors the China phone: about a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED at 2K/165Hz, 8,400mAh with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, a triple 50MP rear set plus 32MP front, LPDDR5X Ultra / UFS 4.1, and colors including Chasing Lights, Legend and Racing Track. Treat India storage cuts and camera tuning as unconfirmed until the local launch sheet.

Price context

In China the iQOO 16 starts near CNY 5,999 (~₹85–86k). Reporting suggests India could land closer to ₹1 lakh once duties and the Extreme SKU are priced in — but iQOO has not confirmed that.

Rocks take

Confirming Extreme Gen 6 for India is the real headline; the calendar and rupee tag are still missing. Power users should wait for the India SKU list before assuming the full China battery and camera package ships unchanged.
