Instagram Edits Adds Custom Photo and Video Carousel Editor on iOS

Carousel posts finally get a proper workshop inside Meta’s creator toolkit. On October 7, 2026, PetaPixel and The Verge reported that Instagram’s free Edits app can now build custom photo-and-video carousels on iOS, with Android listed as coming soon.

Edits designer engineer Dan Moreno said creators kept asking for carousels when the team asked what to build next. The entry path is simple: open Edits → Projects → + → Carousel.

Platform catch

Edits itself is free on iOS and Android, but the new carousel editor ships on iOS first. Android timing was not dated beyond “coming soon.”

Rocks take

Carousels already outperform many single-image posts for product explainers and photo sets. Giving creators a dedicated canvas — instead of bolting slides together in the main Instagram composer — is the right kind of boring, useful update.
