IKEA DUBBELKISEL: Matter over Thread Cabinet LED Driver

IKEA’s cabinet lighting stack just went native Matter. On September 14, 2026, HomeKit News reported the official release of DUBBELKISEL, a 30W Matter-over-Thread LED driver for integrated kitchen, cabinet, and wardrobe lighting. It replaces the previous 30W TRÅDFRI Zigbee driver for on/off and dimming through a smart-home platform or optional wireless remote.

Direct Thread, optional DIRIGERA

Unlike Zigbee TRÅDFRI, DUBBELKISEL joins a Thread network and speaks Matter. HomeKit News says it can connect to Apple Home through a compatible Thread Border Router—HomePod mini, HomePod 2nd gen, or compatible Apple TV 4K—without necessarily requiring IKEA’s DIRIGERA hub. IKEA describes DIRIGERA as one example of a suitable border router rather than a hard requirement for all installs. DIRIGERA is still required if you want management inside the IKEA Home smart app or IKEA-specific extras beyond basic lighting controls.

• Output: 30W max; up to eight lighting units if combined draw stays under the limit
• Install scale: up to ten DUBBELKISEL drivers per installation; overload warning flashes lights if wattage is exceeded
• Electrical: 220–240V in, 24V out; 205 × 55 × 18 mm; 150 g; <0.35W standby; 90% full-load efficiency
• Accessories: FÖRNIMMA mains cord and remote sold separately

Price, markets, and Matter roadmap

HomeKit News lists product number 506.094.44 at about €22 in Germany, €17.99 in Portugal, and SEK 300 in Sweden as it begins appearing in European stores. At publish time it had not appeared on IKEA UK or US sites, and no local prices or dates were announced for those markets. The driver is part of IKEA’s wider Matter rebuild announced in November 2025 (21 new lights, sensors, remotes and plugs). Older Zigbee TRÅDFRI gear is not abandoned—DIRIGERA can still bridge those devices into Matter platforms—but new Thread products can skip the Zigbee translation hop.

A reader comment on the HomeKit News piece reported a clean swap from a TRÅDFRI driver with matching dim levels; treat that as anecdotal, not a Rocks lab result.
