Googlebook: pre-orders for Google's Android laptops open September 21

Google is entering the laptop market in force: pre-orders for its Googlebook line open on September 21 at 9:00 a.m. EST, reports Hot Hardware. The company calls it a new era for computing.

Unlike ChromeOS Chromebooks, Googlebook devices are built on a laptop-optimized version of Android (codenamed "Aluminum OS"), designed to merge mobile versatility with desktop productivity.

Gemini at the core

The platform is built around Gemini: generative features, system automation and cross-device syncing sit at the core of the OS. A dedicated key launches the AI assistant with a single press.

A launch carried by major hardware partners

Google remains tight-lipped on official MSRPs, but the launch is broad: Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo are all set to ship their own Googlebook hardware.
