Finding the cheapest pump in the UK just got easier. On October 8, 2026, Google launched fuel prices in the UK on Google Maps and Waze, using the government’s Fuel Finder data.
How it works
- Search for “petrol” or “fuel” in Maps or Waze
- See petrol and diesel prices directly on the map
- View the prices of every fuel a station sells in one place
Where the data comes from
Fuel Finder was created after a recommendation by the Competition and Markets Authority. According to GOV.UK, since February UK petrol stations must report a price change within 30 minutes or risk a fine, and the scheme now covers about 99% of fuel sold on UK roads. The same data already feeds apps such as Waze, Petrol Prices, the AA, Confused.com and RAC Fuel Watch.
How much you can save
The government estimates that comparing prices can save car-owning households around £40 a year, at a time when the conflict in the Middle East has pushed fuel prices up.
Rocks take
A small feature with a real wallet impact. It is UK only for now, and we would love to see the same in Maps across the rest of Europe.
