Gemini Live can now narrate what the camera sees. On October 1, 2026, Google launched Guided Vision across compatible Android devices wherever Gemini Live is supported.
What it does
- Share the camera in a Live session for conversational, real-time descriptions
- Natural verbal reframing cues (pan, tilt, step back) when framing is off
- Everyday tasks: fine print, finding objects, matching colors/patterns, room overviews
- Multilingual conversations; feedback from blind/low-vision communities in multiple countries
How to open it
Toggle Use Guided Vision in Live in Gemini app profile settings; or Android Settings → Accessibility → Vision assistance → Guided Vision shortcut (floating button, two-finger swipe, or volume keys); TalkBack menu also lists Guided Vision.
Training and limits
Google partnered with Aira for tens of thousands of hours of visual interpretation and 1,000+ Trusted Testers, with Aira specialists advising safety guardrails. Google states Guided Vision is not a medical device, mobility aid, or white-cane replacement, and is not for navigation, safe-travel guidance, or obstacle detection.
Requires Android 9+ with updated Gemini app and system software; rollout is regional with Gemini Live language availability.
