Repairable earbuds just got a second generation. On October 14, 2026, Fairphone put Fairbuds 2 on sale in Europe, with US availability from November 2. The Verge’s September pre-brief had already locked the price cut versus the first Fairbuds and the seven-part modular claim.
Core pitch
- €119 in most European markets; $119 / $119.99 on the US store listing
- Seven replaceable modular parts; tool-free, glue-free batteries in earbuds and case
- LONGTIME® certified as highly repairable; product page cites an iFixit 10/10
- Bluetooth 6.0, dual multipoint (save up to six devices), Google Fast Pair
- Codecs: AAC, SBC, LC3 and LDAC (up to 990 kbps per Fairphone)
Audio, ANC and battery (vendor specs)
11 mm bio-cellulose drivers tuned with Form Follows Frequency, hybrid ANC up to 45 dB with a six-mic array, IP54 dust/splash resistance, PFAS-free exterior. Battery claims: up to 8 hours per charge with ANC off / 6 hours with ANC on, and up to 40 hours total with the case; 10 minutes of charge for about 1.5 hours of playback. Fairphone says the buds contain about 46.8% fair and recycled materials by weight, with recycled magnets/tin/plastics and fair-mined metal credits. Spare single earbuds, case cores and battery kits are sold separately so a lost bud is not a full repurchase.
Rocks take
If you hate landfill earbuds, this is the interesting SKU — not because ANC automatically beats Sony XM-class noise canceling, but because a dead battery or lost bud does not kill the purchase. EU battery-removability rules are coming; Fairphone is shipping the answer early.
