OpenAI’s official “What’s new” note for October 5–9, 2026 brings dots to the phone. You can now create your dot in the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android, per OpenAI’s community announcement.

What’s new

  • Mobile setup: name your dot, customize its look and connect plugins from your phone. You can also have ChatGPT open straight to your dot’s conversation.
  • Codex delegation: your dot can start work in Codex and follow up on existing threads, using context from your ChatGPT conversations, Codex threads and automations. OpenAI says it’s better at choosing whether to continue a thread or start a new one.
  • Automations: your dot can read and edit ChatGPT Work automations, so you can ask what’s scheduled or change a recurring task.
  • Fixes: faster cloud browsing and sidebar loading, fewer duplicate phone notifications, cleaner code blocks and attachments, a fix for Outlook setup getting stuck, and more reliable Enterprise access on web and voice.

Availability

OpenAI says dots are rolling out gradually to eligible accounts, so you may not see the option yet. OpenAI didn’t give a country-by-country schedule in the note.
