Pro camera controls catch up to the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable-aperture hardware. On September 29, 2026, MacRumors reported Apple’s update wave across Final Cut Camera and Apple Creator Studio apps, with corroboration from The Verge and Engadget on the aperture support.
Final Cut Camera on iPhone
- Supports the iPhone 18 Pro variable aperture, with aperture-priority and shutter-priority modes
- Redesigned, customizable overlays for shutter angle, ISO and white balance; false color and clipping indicators; focus peaking with sensitivity control
- Cinematic mode effects for video; tally light while recording; two-finger tap to clear the viewfinder
- Professional video scopes, clean SDI out and genlock offset
Mac apps and the Creator Studio bundle
Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac gain the ability to adjust focus points and depth of field for Cinematic mode footage captured on iPhone 18 Pro. Compressor can convert that footage back to the previous Cinematic format and adds new HEVC and MPEG-4 export presets. The same day also brought template and collaboration updates to Pages, Numbers and Keynote; Pixelmator Pro template packs and Select and Mask on iPad; and Freeform Dark Mode, folders and Writing Tools support (including visionOS 27 multi-item spatial pull-outs).
Apple Creator Studio remains $12.99 per month for the paid creative bundle. MacRumors comment clarification: Freeform folders and Dark Mode do not require the subscription.
Rocks take
PR-flagged Apple feature drop—useful if you already shoot on 18 Pro glass. This is a software unlock story, not a new handset. Distinct from Gemini side panel, Google Arts & Culture redesign and Copilot computer-use packs.
