Joko keeps its promise: automatic, passive cashback on 3,500+ brands. The only caveat: sometimes-tiny rebates on small purchases.
When you pay in-store, order online or book a trip, you often miss out on cashback without even knowing it. Joko promises to collect it for you, automatically. Does it deliver? Here's our review, after 2 years of use.
Cashback that runs itself
The idea is simple: you connect your bank card to the app once, then pay as usual. Every purchase at a partner store generates cashback automatically, online and in-store. Nothing to activate, nothing to scan, no receipts to send.
The bank connection goes through an aggregator licensed by the French central bank (Banque de France) — the reassuring part, since you're not handing your data to just anyone.
A network of 3,500+ brands
Joko covers groceries (Carrefour, Leclerc, Lidl, Aldi), fashion (Zalando, Nike, Kiabi), tech (Fnac, Darty, Cdiscount), travel (SNCF Connect, Airbnb) and beauty (Sephora, Yves Rocher).
On top of cashback, the app offers promo codes, a browser extension (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) for online shopping, and gift cards often bundled with a bonus.
Our 2-year test: €173 recovered
After two years of use, the balance is positive: €173 of cashback recovered, with no particular effort.
What we liked:
- Banks are very easy to connect: linking takes a few minutes, even with a traditional bank;
- Gift cards arrive quickly: as soon as the balance allows it, you get them without waiting;
- Withdraw from €10 to your bank account or PayPal.
The sore point: some rebates are tiny — a few cents on some purchases. A guaranteed minimum of 1 cent per purchase would be fairer and more motivating.
Verdict
Joko keeps its promise: automatic, passive cashback, on a very wide brand network, with a simple onboarding. The only real caveat is those sometimes-ridiculous amounts on small purchases. If you want money back without thinking about it, it's one of the best apps of its kind.
