Waymo Expands Robotaxi Service to Denver, San Diego and Tampa

Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous-driving unit, has started offering its robotaxi service to the public in Denver, San Diego and Tampa, according to TechCrunch. The expansion extends its commercial operations to 14 US cities.

A rapidly growing fleet

The expansion has increased Waymo's fleet to more than 4,000 vehicles, made up of self-driving Jaguar I-Pace hatchbacks and a new minivan called the "Ojai."

A robotaxi market getting crowded

The acceleration comes as Tesla deploys its Cybercab in Austin and competition in autonomous ride-hailing heats up across the US. Waymo, widely seen as the operational leader in the space, is widening its lead in the number of cities served.
