Telegram Desktop beta adds a text tool for image editing and folder archiving

The 7.2.6 beta of Telegram Desktop, released in early September, adds several concrete features to the desktop app, according to the official changelog.

A text tool for editing images

The image editor gains a text tool with fonts, alignment and styles, so you can annotate a photo before sending it.

Send folders as a single archive

• Folders and file sets: drop a folder into a chat to send it as one archive;
• GIF editing: edit a GIF before sending it, with a caption;
• Call ratings: rate a finished call with stars from the call panel;
• Custom emoji: create custom emoji out of video stickers.

The update also fixes several issues: GIF playback in shared media, a crash in the chat preview for bots with topics, and long sender names hiding the via-bot name in a bubble.

This is a beta build of the desktop branch; a stable release will follow in the coming days.
