September 2026 Android Drop: the 5 new features to know

Google has detailed the September 2026 “Android Drop”, its monthly batch of new features for Android phones. Five stand out, rolling out gradually to compatible devices.

1. Find Hub: remember where your things are with Gemini

On Android 16 and above, you’ll be able to ask Gemini to remember where you put an item (e.g. “remember I put my passport in my bedroom drawer”). It’s saved in Find Hub, with the option to add a photo.

2. Google Keep right inside Messages

Google Messages now integrates Google Keep: via the “+” icon, you can share and update grocery lists or vacation notes directly inside a chat.

3. Gemini Live’s Guided Vision

Share your camera with Gemini Live to get spoken descriptions of what’s in front of you — reading fine print on a label, ordering from a dimly lit menu, or finding household objects. Available through Accessibility shortcuts and TalkBack.

4. Chat Themes

Google Messages officially launches Chat Themes, letting you customize the look of your conversations with matching bubbles and colors.

5. Motion Assist against motion sickness

Motion Assist displays animated visual cues that follow the vehicle’s movement to help reduce motion sickness while riding. It’s already rolling out on Android 17.
